Preaching

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God,” said the apostle Paul.  We believe the most effective preaching is done in an expository fashion, i.e. preaching through a text or passage in its context.  Topical preaching can be effective but is sometimes lifted out of its context.  As Alistair Begg once said, “There is a way to preach the Bible unbiblically…You can use the Bible as the springboard for all kinds of ideas, can’t you?  Look around in here and find something that fits your fancy and then launch a rocket off it.  People say, ‘That was amazing, wasn’t it?  Remarkable what he got out of that.’  Well of course it is because he put it in before he got it out.”

We believe it is important to preach the whole council of God.  All Scripture is inspired and all Scripture is profitable for our training in righteousness.  To this end we will preach from both the Old and New Testaments, from the minor prophets and the gospels, from the books of Moses to the Revelation of John.

We hope that all of our sermons arise from the text and believe you will be amazed at how relevant God’s word is today.
